Working with us

Initial Consultation

01

Ready to make a change to your outdoor space?

Whether you’re after a full design for the entire garden, a refresh of a particular section, a new feature, or you’re looking for ideas on what would be best, book a one-hour on-site consultation with Tim. At your property, he’ll analyse the space and understand your vision, working with you to make suggestions that align your preferences with the everyday use of your garden and budget. After the visit you’ll also receive a written report with a summary of suggestions discussed during the visit.

Consultation and report: $190 +GST.

Additional travel costs may apply.

Site Measurement & Scope

02

Once you’re ready to proceed with some or all of the suggestions from the consultation, Tim will do another site visit to collect detailed measurements and design specifications.

At this stage, he will also understand more about your specific plant taste and preferences to help influence the planting palettes and schedules, and will discuss how much detail you want from your design.

Design & Quote

03

You can opt for a full landscape design that illustrates the details of your vision, or keep this process simple — your choice.

Our professional designs encompass a range of hard & soft outdoor enhancements to incorporate unique features. We can add anything into your design from decking and fencing to raised garden beds, pergolas, rainwater storage, art, furniture, laundry, storage, and more. This will provide you with a beautiful plan that allows you to see what all the elements of your new garden will look like in full detail before it’s brought to life.

At this stage, we can provide a comprehensive quote. Upon acceptance, a 20-30% deposit is required. A flexible charge-up option is also available.

Installation

04

Time for the magic to happen! Our team of trained gardeners and landscapers work on-site at your property to carefully implement the design and bring it to life.

Tim’s Garden is fully insured, takes health & safety seriously, and will leave your property looking clean and tidy each day.

Weekly invoices are issued throughout the installation process so we can keep things moving.

Handover

05

Once your new garden is complete, we’ll conclude the project with a handover. You’ll receive a handover gift along with advice on how to look after your new space.

Maintenance

06

If you would like ongoing support to keep your garden looking its best, our half day or full day maintenance packages can be scheduled on a fortnightly, monthly, or seasonal basis. Enjoy peace of mind knowing your outdoor space is in the caring hands of our professional horticulturists.

Tim & Sophie of Tim's Garden

Our Story

Since 2016, Tim and Sophie alongside the dedicated Tim's Garden team have been creating beautiful outdoor spaces across Nelson. What started as a shared passion for nature has flourished into a family-owned business dedicated to creating vibrant, sustainable gardens that enrich lives.

From landscape design to maintenance, we approach every project with care, creativity, and a personal touch, ensuring each garden reflects the unique character of its surroundings and the people who enjoy it.

Our philosophy

We're not just landscapers — at our core, we're storytellers, weaving together elements of sustainability, organic gardening, and permaculture to create vibrant, living landscapes our clients love. From nurturing healthy soil to nurturing community connections, we believe in making a positive impact that goes beyond aesthetics.

Green & white plant leaves

Safe, Natural & Organic

We don’t use any harsh chemicals or sprays, and utilise certified organic products wherever possible.

Encourage Edible Landscapes

We believe in gardens as healthy, affordable, and sustainable food sources, so we can integrate edibles into any landscape design.

Ecologically Conscious

We source sustainable materials, reduce and recycle waste, and use local suppliers to minimise our footprint.

Practice Permaculture

We apply smart land management practices that follow leading global permaculture

principles.

Support New Zealand Natives

We build healthy soil, plant to the local Nelson conditions, and encourage biodiversity and native species.
